April Fool 04:18
I'd share my thoughts if I knew what they were I really should be thankful That you even care For absent minds and friends go Like the cast of a play When the show is over And there's nothing left to say All I can do is look back And stare between the cracks I'm bound by commitment And principles I see your sticking point but I must fulfill My good intentions They'll be my end But I'll go down self righteous No-one I'll offend All I can do is look back And stare between the cracks But for now I'll be your April Fool Breaking my back Bending the rules Won't you catch me As I fall between stools? It's a lot to ask But I know you Spring is in the air And in my step But one more wrong move And your help I can forget All I can do is look back And stare between the cracks

He sees eyes in the headlights They guide him through the night Voices tell him he's crazy He thinks that they're right He sees names in the number plates As he goes round the bend Where will it all end? He keeps finding pieces In the puzzle of life But he can't put them together With any reason or rhyme And so he is puzzled His thoughts go round And round The boy who left his mind on the boil… His thoughts simmer Restlessly One leads to another Ceaselessly But somewhere in the middle Of this melting pot Comes the realization That alone he is not One in many Many in one The boy who left his mind on the boil… In this he is no different To anyone else And by anyone's standards Better off than most And so he writes in third person In the hope you won't see That the person he speaks of Is really me The boy who left his mind on the boil… Riding the bike of life Think twice Fall off Look back You're gone The boy who left his mind on the boil…

When you’re standing on a pier In a little seaside town Somewhere out on the west coast And your game boy’s broke You’re at a loss of what to do. The fact of the matter is that war hammer Isn’t an option in this time and space, The ferris wheel lights go up, And the sky goes dark, dark blue. And you’re looking up Like a kid at a window To the stars above And the only recognizable sign up there is L-O-V-E, love. When you’ve been awake for two days straight And what you’re seeing in the sea Is kind of sick. And your lips are numb from kissing in a cadillac That’s sitting in the lot. When you haven’t got a care Except the care that you are there, When you shouldn’t be really. When the penny slot machines have taken everything you got. And you’re looking up Like a kid at a window To the stars above And the only recognizable sign up there is L-O-V-E, love.

All the tourists Have been and gone Home for the winter - I'm on my own In my summer clothes At the last resort. The nights Are drawing in It's getting colder And there's a wind That blows me away At the last resort. The lights have gone out on the pier And it's clear: This town is odder than me. There's nothing on the horizon but the sea. I'd go out but I've seen it all You see the place is really small But I'm sticking around Waiting for the thing That's going to be happening Any day now.

There's something inside Keeps taking me by surprise Is it me? I just don't know. Is it something in the air Leading somewhere? But where Will it go? What do you say Me and you Go out tonight And paint the town blue? Do you feel it too Or am I a deluded fool? Fond And out of line Whatever's afoot: The end, love Or truth I can't help But feel this way So what do you say Me and you Go out tonight And paint the town blue? Like blood From a stone Our love We'll hone Oh if there's any there. And if nothing remains Of these binds and chains Into the abyss, together, We'll stare. What do you say Me and you Go out tonight And paint the town blue?

Polling Day 04:28
Have you heard? The circus is coming to town You'd better stop, Stop acting the clown. The circus is coming You don't stand a chance Step out of the ring Before they advance I'll be on a tightrope Come polling day Walk the plank Talk the wank Please, have your say. The circus is coming Pomp and circumstance Empty promises Flyers and rants The circus is coming Let us raise a toast To reach the high moral ground On a sinking boast I'll be on a tightrope Come polling day Walk the plank Talk the wank Please, have your say. Now the cards are on the table This time it's for real You know i'm not a joker Fate shuffles, you deal.

In my heart i know you're right But i just want to get through the night I want to wake and see the dawn Ahead of me a new horizon Endlessly stretching on I can't sleep with the light on 'Cause then i see where we're going And i don't want to look You could say I've read the book And i don't want to spoil the ending In my dreams i see the light But my dreams are not real life As I wake they're sliding out of view Fading into a paler hue Melting like the morning dew So I sleep with the light on When there is no consolation No beginning or end No reason to pretend Just the hope that something better's Round the bend.

Streetlights are like stars Moving through the world Staying in one place And drifting lazily through darkness And space. These nights are a black dwarf Inescapable ash and burning embers And whatever lies ahead my love We won't even remember. So I will tell you this, From what I have observed; Streetlights are like stars Burning through the world

about

A selection of lo - mid fi home recordings from 2010 - 2012. A marriage of convenience, with things old, new, borrowed and a little blue.

"The duality of tradition and experimentalism throughout this record is wonderful... There is no point trying to categorize a record as unique as this as it would be a great disservice. For a debut album, after a hiatus, this is quite remarkable and deserves your attention." chordblossom.com
